"The Eternal Sky"
by Yang Gang
28th Feb - 13th March 2009Zee Stone Gallery is proud to present "The Eternal Sky", an exhibition of ink and colour paintings by Yang Gang.
Yang Gang (b. 1946), is best known for his distinctive works in Chinese ink on rice paper, executed in a bold, calligraphic style. The grasslands of Inner Mongolia are a favourite source of inspiration: paintings depicting horsemen beneath lowering skies, camel trains and herdsmen evoke nostalgia for the traditional lifestyles and elemental landscapes of northern China. More recently, Yang Gang has revealed other passions in his paintings of dancers, musicians and sportsmen, always characterized by powerful brushwork, which creates strong, yet sensitively, rendered images.
